Collaboration Between the City and School District

Our city and our schools are deeply connected. Our children live in our neighborhoods, walk our streets, attend our schools, and participate in the activities that make Sanger a community. When city and school leaders work together, we can accomplish things that neither could do alone.

We have seen firsthand what collaboration looks like.

Our son, who serves as Chairman of the Sanger Youth Council and is a senior at Sanger High School, experienced the heartbreaking loss of a friend who was tragically killed while walking as a pedestrian near the school.

Rather than simply talk about what happened, he wanted to help make the area safer for students and pedestrians. He brought the idea forward and encouraged the City to pursue grant funding for safety improvements.

The City listened. The grant was pursued, and ultimately awarded.

That is what collaboration can accomplish and the kind of leadership Victor will bring to Sanger.

A young person saw a problem affecting his friends and fellow students and community. He spoke up. City leaders listened. And together, a solution was pursued that could help make our community safer.

The relationship between the city and the school district is hugely important.

Victor believes leadership means listening to residents, listening to our young people, building relationships, and finding common ground to get things done.

Let’s put Sanger first.
